SetPoint.exe is a component of SetPoint utility by the peripheral and software company Logitech International S.A. The SetPoint utility contains various options to edit and tweak your Logitech mouse’ and keyboard settings. It always runs in the background. This is not an essential part of your hardware either, as most modern Logitech mouse and keyboards are plug-and-play (i.e, they don’t need a software driver installed).

Methods to fix errors related to SetPoint.exe

Method 1: Reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable

Microsoft Visual C++ library is a set of files that are crucial to run any application or game created using Visual C++ language on Windows. Below are the steps to download and install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (make sure you have a reliable internet connection)-

1. Go to this Microsoft support link

2. Download the VCRedist file for your system type (vc_redist.x86.exe for 32-bit system, vc_redist.x64.exe for 64-bit system and vc_redist.arm64.exe for ARM64 system); To check the system type for your PC, refer to the method below:

3. Install the application and restart your computer; The problem should be resolved.

1. Press Windows + I to go to Windows Settings

2. Click on System


3. Scroll down in the left panel and click on About

4. Check your system type


Method 2: Uninstalling and reinstalling the application 

Reinstalling the SetPoint utility can replace/repair the damaged or corrupted files which are causing the issues.

1. Press Windows + R to open the Run application

2. In the text field, enter appwiz.cpl and click OK to open Programs and Features


3. Look for Logitech SetPoint application in the list of programs (the latest version at the time this article was written was 6.69) and click on Uninstall

Method 1: Run an antivirus scan

If you don’t have third-party antivirus software, refer to the steps below to scan using Windows Defender and remove the infected file-

1. Search for Windows Security in the start menu


2. Click on Virus and Threat Protection

3. Click on Quick Scan (Takes few minutes) or you can also click on Scan options and do a Full Scan (Might take a bit less than an hour)
