Unwise.exe is an executable application and is known as Wise Un-installer. This Unwise.exe application automatically installed on the system when you add any software.  Although it’s not an essential part of the Windows Operating System, however, it comes by default with any third-party software.

Unwise.exe is an uninstaller for different software and programs on Windows Operating System. When a software using the Wise Installer system is installed onto your computer, then unwise.exe is automatically installed with it. It is then used to uninstall the software, should the need arise.

It scans the system when executed and deletes every affiliated file, registry item or folder after an uninstallation. This way it offers thorough uninstallation.

Its average file size is 153 KB approximately on most of the Windows operating system versions.

Is it safe or a virus?

Unwise.exe is a legitimate and trustworthy application. However, some malicious code programmers may name their program as unwise.exe to fool system protection.

There are two ways to check this:

  • If Microsoft Process Explorer is unable to verify its signer.
  • If it is located anywhere other than the C drive, it is probably a virus.

This is the easiest way to disable the unwise.exe application from the system background, follow the below steps:

1) Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc button

2) Click on Processes tab and locate unwise.exe

3) Right-click over it and select End task

Uninstall the Parent Software

Once you have identified the unwise.exe is belonged to which software, then follow the below steps:

1) Click on Windows button, type Control Panel and click on it

2) Click on Uninstall a program located under Programs

3) Now, locate the associated software name, right-click and select Uninstall

There are several other executable files like atkexComSvc.exe, ipoint.exe, Drvinst.exe, Rundll32.exe and many others.
