vulkaninfo.exe is a process that helps computer graphics to function correctly. It is bundled with the graphics card driver software. Apps or games run Vulkan API to enable hardware peripheral devices to communicate well with the graphics card or GPU for a better user experience. This API (Application Program Interface)  is often found in NVidia, Intel, and AMD GPU drivers.

File Size and Location

When a new graphics card driver is installed or updated on a computer, vulkaninfo.exe or vulkaninfo32.exe (for 32-bit architecture) or vulkaninfo64.exe (for 64-bit architecture) is located at

C:\Program Files (x86)\VulkanRT\\

This windows runtime executable file varies from 44 KB to 700 KB depending upon your 32-bit or 64-bit processor.

Vulkaninfo.exe facilitates computer graphics hardware and software communication through Vulkan API. Disabling it hampers the graphics quality of certain games and applications. So, if you are using NVIDIA graphics card on your system, then you might see Vulkaninfo.exe running in the system background.

Safety and Vulnerability (Is it a virus?)

vulkaninfo.exe is a safe file. Deleting it is not recommended as removing it causes Vulkan API to stop functioning.

If vulkaninfo.exe is consuming a high CPU usage or found at other places apart from C:\Program Files (x86)\VulkanRT\\ , a malware infection is suspected.

If high CPU usage persists or the computer slows down along with another location of the file than the above-mentioned directory, your computer is infected with a virus. If it is not fixed with the above steps, consider installing or updating your malware removal application.

If the NVIDIA Control Panel is missing then you can follow this to fix it up.

Also, some Windows security updates are known to make vulkaninfo.exe misbehave. For fixing those, you must uninstall the latest updates of Windows security.
